The Sacrament of Confirmation

"By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."

The Sacrament of Confirmation is in a process of transition. Previously celebrated in the 11th grade, the Confirmation age will be lowered to those in the 7th grade. Bishop Duca recognizes that due to social media and modern technology, our children's faith is challenged at earlier ages than ever before. Receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation sooner will give our children the full grace to face these challenges as disciples on fire for Christ.

At St. Joseph and St. Stephen, we are making this transition one grade level at a time. The transition will be complete by 2029.

The Confirmation years are as follows:

  • 2025 - 11th and 10th graders
  • 2026 - 10th and 9th graders
  • 2027 - 9th and 8th graders
  • 2028 - 8th and 7th graders
  • 2029 - 7th graders
